Deep Delve

Deep Delve is Mining's side activity, and it is a gamble. You open a descent at Copperfell; from then on every ore you mine anywhere in the realm takes you one Depth further down and adds to a haul that has not been paid to you yet. The deeper you are, the more each swing is worth — and the more likely the roof is to come down.

Come back up at Copperfell and the haul becomes Lodestones. Get caught below and it is gone.

The three bids

You may descend 3 times a day, but you may only sell once. Banking ends your delving for the day, so walking away with a small haul costs you the chance at a larger one — and a cave-in costs you an attempt rather than the whole day. Collapse twice and the third descent is your safety net.

A cave-in takes only the un-banked haul. Your ore, your experience and everything in your pack are untouched.

How dangerous it gets

Nothing can go wrong through Depth 5. After that each swing carries 0.5% at first, rising by 0.5% every Depth — 7.5% at Depth 20, 12.5% at Depth 30.

10 haul makes one Lodestone, and the remainder is not kept. Neither is anything else: Depth and haul both end with the day.

Lodestone Hall

At Copperfell, and the only place Lodestones are worth anything.

CostWhat it does
Shoring Timbers50The pit gives way less readily — collapse odds climb 0.4% a Depth, not 0.5%.
Pit Sense100You can feel how close the roof is — see your exact collapse chance before each swing.
Safety Line150The first cave-in each day still costs you the descent, but half the haul comes up with you.
