Thieves Guild
From Thieving 15 the Thieves Guild in Wyckmouth will take you on. It's the only way to steal from another player — you never pick your own target. Accept a task and the guild assigns you a random mark from the players currently online (never a clanmate, and never anyone below total level 50). The task hints their region and where they were last seen; track them down, and thieve them from the "Players Here" list once you're both in the same place.
The steal
A success lifts a random 5–10% of the mark's carried gold — there's no cap, so a heavy purse is a fat prize. The counterplay is simple and it cuts both ways: gold banked in a House can never be stolen, so bank before you carry, and don't walk around rich.
Your odds are a contest of skill. Success starts at 32% and shifts by 1% for every level your Thieving beats the mark's Thieving and Trading combined — their levels defend. An equipped lockpick adds 10%. However lopsided the levels, it's clamped between 5% and 45%: a coin flip at best, on purpose — thieving is never an easy pump.
Getting caught
Fail and you're thrown in jail for 2 minutes — you can't start an action or travel until you're out. Either way, return to the guild to close the task: a clean job pays full gold, XP, and Marks; a jailed return still pays 50% of the XP and 1 Mark. There's a 10-minute cooldown between tasks, a mark who logs off for 10 minutes frees you (no decline spent), and you get 2 declines a day before the guild expects you to commit.
