Clans
A clan bands players together under a shared tag shown beside their names, with a private Clan chat channel, a private forum section, shared storehouses, and clan buildings. Founding one costs 10,000 gold (destroyed, not paid to anyone) and a clan holds up to 30 members. Names run 3–24 characters, tags 2–10; both must be unique, and the leader can rename or re-tag the clan at any time.
Permissions
Clans use per-member permission flags rather than fixed ranks. The leader holds every right; each flag below can be granted member by member:
- Deposit — add goods to the clan storehouse — every member has this by default; a leader can revoke it.
- Withdraw — take goods out of the storehouse and approve storage requests.
- Deposit gold — add gold to the clan treasury — every member has this by default; a leader can revoke it.
- Withdraw gold — take gold from the treasury and approve gold requests.
- Building — found and expand storehouses, and contribute to clan buildings.
- Invite — invite players into the clan.
- Kick — remove members.
- Forum — build out and moderate the clan's private forum boards.
- Admin — edit other members' permissions and read the storehouse's deposit/withdraw log.
Clan level
A clan gains experience from its members' effort: every skill experience gain a member earns credits the clan one point per 20 (minimum one). Clan level gates the storehouses and shrines of the later regions — a young clan builds in Aldermoor first and earns its way outward.
The storehouse
Each region can hold one clan storehouse — a shared, weight-based store. Every member can deposit by default (a revocable permission); taking goods out needs the Withdraw permission, or a storage request another member approves. A member with the Building permission founds it (paying the founding materials from their own pack) and can expand it later: capacity starts at 2,500 lb and each expansion adds 250 lb for a rising wood cost that flattens after 10 expansions. Expansions are funded in pieces, like shrines: contribute whatever wood you're carrying and the expansion lands when the full cost is met — the 60 Construction XP per expansion is shared out by how much of the cost each contributor funded. As with personal Houses, an expansion accepts any higher-tier plank in place of the one it asks for (spending the plainest first) — only the initial founding needs the exact tier.
| Region | Clan level | Founding cost | Expansion wood |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aldermoor | 1 | Free | 100× Plank (+12 each further) |
| Sundermere | 15 | 600× Ash Plank | 120× Ash Plank (+16 each further) |
| Merrowfen | 30 | 600× Blackthorn Plank | 150× Blackthorn Plank (+20 each further) |
Storage requests
Members without the Storage permission aren't locked out — they can request items from the storehouse instead. A member who holds the permission approves or denies each request. Approval reserves the goods immediately (they leave the store so nobody double-draws them), and the requester then collects them at the storehouse whenever they next visit — partial pickups are fine if their pack is short on room. A requester can cancel an approved request to return its goods, and each member can have up to 10 requests open at once.
The clan treasury
Each storehouse also holds a shared gold treasury for its region. Any member can Deposit gold by default (a revocable permission); taking gold out needs the Withdraw gold permission. Members without it can request gold instead — a Withdraw-gold member approves (which reserves the gold out of the treasury) or denies, and the requester collects it at the storehouse, exactly like item requests. Gold is weightless, so it never counts against the storehouse's capacity.
The clan shrine
Once a region's storehouse stands, the clan can raise a shrine beside it. The shrine is universal — the clan doesn't pick a god. Any aligned member can pray there to refill Faith and perform burial rites there, exactly as at their patron's own shrine. Rites performed at a clan shrine also have a chance to not consume the remains — the rite still grants its full experience.
Shrines are funded in pieces: any member with the Building permission can contribute whatever still-needed materials they're carrying, and the shrine rises when the full cost is met. Construction XP (200 per shrine) is shared out by how much of the cost each contributor funded.
The clan hearth
A hearth is the clan's own cooking fire, raised beside the storehouse like the shrine. Standing at it, members can cook as though at a range — useful in every town that doesn't have one — and the fire has a chance to spare the log a dish burns. Only the fuel is spared; the ingredients always go in.
You can also rest by the fire to restore your health in full, once every 60 minutes. It restores health only — mana refills on its own.
A hearth funds in pieces like a shrine, and grants 120 Construction XP shared across its contributors. Its gold comes from the region storehouse's own treasury, not from your purse — the hearth rises once the materials are met and the treasury can cover it.
| Region | Clan level | Materials | Gold | Spares the log |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aldermoor | 12 | 300× Plank, 200× Granite, 200× Cooked Shrimp, 200× Cooked Sardine | 5,000 | 5% |
| Sundermere | 27 | 400× Ash Plank, 300× Granite, 350× Cooked Trout, 350× Cooked Salmon | 15,000 | 7.5% |
| Merrowfen | 42 | 500× Blackthorn Plank, 400× Granite, 500× Cooked Gar, 500× Cooked Eel | 35,000 | 10% |
The clan apothecary
An apothecary is the clan's own brewing bench. Standing at it, members can brew as though at any apothecary — every region has one, but only in a single town — and each brew has a chance to keep its vial and a separate chance to keep its herb. Where a recipe calls for two ingredients, it is the more valuable one that may be spared.
| Region | Clan level | Materials | Gold | Keeps vial | Keeps herb |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aldermoor | 14 | 300× Plank, 200× Granite, 250× Marrowleaf, 500× Vial | 7,500 | 10% | 5% |
| Sundermere | 29 | 400× Ash Plank, 300× Granite, 300× Tanglewort, 750× Vial | 20,000 | 15% | 7.5% |
| Merrowfen | 44 | 500× Blackthorn Plank, 400× Granite, 350× Bogbane, 1000× Vial | 45,000 | 20% | 10% |
The chapterhouse
A chapterhouse is the one clan building that changes the clan rather than what its members can do somewhere. Each one raises the clan's member limit by 5 above the usual 30, and each region's chapterhouse adds its own seats — a clan with one in every region today holds 45 members.
| Region | Clan level | Materials | Gold | Extra members |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aldermoor | 16 | 300× Plank, 200× Granite, 200× Cloth | 25,000 | +5 |
| Sundermere | 31 | 400× Ash Plank, 300× Granite, 250× Fine Cloth | 50,000 | +5 |
| Merrowfen | 46 | 500× Blackthorn Plank, 400× Granite, 300× Silk | 100,000 | +5 |
Announcements
The leader can post a clan announcement — a standing notice (up to 500 characters) shown to every member at the top of the clan panel. Setting one also posts a brief notice into clan chat, so nobody misses the update.
Clan chat, whispers, and the clan's private forum are covered in Community.
